Had the Mamba Monster 2 Mounted back to the original ESC area (I mounted it at the oil tank for bettering air circulation) . Had some of the esc plastic plate trimmed to allow the steering servo mount move freely. As the steering arm is a bit longer than the original one. The complete aluminum gear box fit perfectly, however the 2 speed transmission "hole" is sealed in the aluminum gear box, my original plan is to include the 2-speed within it. Anyway I may consider to do if I give up the aluminum gear box.
The reason I upgrade the electronics to Mamba Monster 2 with 2650kv motor is to run the Yeti with 4s. But 4s is too much power to the drive train, and it will eat up the front and rear diff bevel gear very quickly. I'm using the Hot Racing Spiral Diff Gear and I found it has no dramatics improvement to handle more power. So as soon as there are no better bevel gear on the market, I will stick with 3s.
In order to make the Axial Yeti wider for better scale look and stability, I keep the SSD Axle Wider Kit and combine it with Vanquish Currie Front Axle for realistic scale look. If you are a Yeti owner, you may know that Yeti has the wider front than the rear, so the rear wheels are equipped with a widener wheel hubs.
The SSD Axle Wider Kit allows the Yeti has a equal front and rear.
If you want to combine the SDD and Vanquish Axle as well, you CANNOT purchase any axle has the pumpkin in the middle, as you need an axle that fit the SSD wider version shafts. Any vanquish front axle for Bomber and Wraith should compatible with SSD wider shaft, as Axial only has ONE version plastic axle for bomb and wraith. You need to look for vanquish axle which has the same design with the Axial original one.
On the other hand, as I put the front axle to the rear, you may notice now the pumpkin is on the right side of the rig (instead of left), and the diff set up is REVERSED. So you need to also reversed the diff set up at the front in doing so to keep both the front and rears wheels turn correctly.
As below, the Metal Concept Gull Wing looks amazing at the Axial Yeti. It looks much beefier and thicker than the original plastic, RPM or other aluminum a-arm on the market.
The next thing I wanna do is to make a DIY LED light bar beneath the roof. Yes I would like to have them inside rigs. LED Light bars on the market are expensive and bulky.
